Description

EDIT 5/24/12: Changed the tutorial a little! Less doodles, more text and advice. Hope it is a little clear and better to understand. Thank you all so much for all the favs and comments. I love hearing about all of your ideas! Hopefully I'll get around to fixing Part II (and III?) around one day!!

A quick little tutorial I made for designing Pokemon OCs. I see some, uh, questionable ones out there. ^^; So I figured I'd give it a go and see how the reaction is and if anyone wants a part II or III.

And I'd like to say that these are general rules to follow and some guidelines to help. All rules have exceptions of course and plots and storylines really can help shape great charaters, even if they push the boundaries. Don't be afraid to experiment with more than the average trainer.

Hope it's okay and hope it gives you some ideas!

Edit: A-almost 50 favs! ;A; I'm so grateful! It was even added to a few groups! Thank you all so much!

I feel like some of things mentioned here are more up to your personal interpretation of the universe rather than hard rules that must always be followed. Since Pokemon is pretty vague and conflicting in how it’s universe works. Like I personally don’t have a problem with having a legendary on your team(assuming it’s not one of the very few I’d consider one offs). It very much can work and doesn’t automatically ruin your character if handled right(proper build up to it story and strength wise). Also with some of the recent developments in the games a lot of legendaries aren’t nearly as over powered compared to normal Pokémon anymore(gigantimax etc). Just my 2 cents, still a super solid guide though.
